25 Aug Meet Cameron Peterson
Cameron was born and raised in Dallas/Fort Worth, where she still resides. If you’re lucky enough to be born in the great state of Texas, why live anywhere else? Cameron started exploring the world of hospitality while competing for DECA in high school, and solidified her interest with a summer internship at a newly built boutique hotel where she worked in the Sales & Marketing department.
Through connections made at her summer internship, Cameron was referred to Wyndham Hotel Group where she was hired on in their Global Sales Department. Cameron worked alongside the Global Sales team for a year and half while attending The University of North Texas and completing her bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management. Wyndham is where Cameron really learned the importance of a well-written email, consistent and open communication with leadership, and a good margarita from Ojeda’s.
After college, Cameron switched gears and went from group sales to event sales and operations. Cameron started as a part-time event assistant at NOAH’S Event Venue and quickly climbed the ranks, opening her “own” location in Richardson, Texas before becoming a Regional Manager and eventually Director of Operations. NOAH’S is where Cameron got to learn an operation from the ground up and the power of working primarily with women. #GirlPower
Switching gears to more operationally focused roles, Cameron joined Hilton at their Revenue Management Consolidated Center and transitioned to providing revenue management consulting for 14 select service hotels. Going from a “start up” to a #1 Place to Work company was a remarkable and welcome change for Cameron and she strives to shape Topline into a top place to work for others. In 2018 Cameron joined Hilton’s leadership team as a manager of people where she supported six Revenue Specialists and 84 hotels. Working with and developing her team of specialists was absolutely the best part of her role and she thoroughly enjoyed helping them prepare for and move into new roles throughout Hilton.
Cameron is currently enrolled in SMU’s Digital Marketing Certification Program, which she is really excited to begin courses for in the next few weeks. She’s thrilled to be heading up Topline’s marketing strategies with her great friend Victoria Pecherski, while also piloting their Topline SalesPro services. When she’s not working, you can find Cameron hanging out with her family, friends, and rescue pup Gunnar. If you’re lucky, you’ll hear Gunny snoring while Cameron attends virtual work meetings.
Go-to brand when travelling?
When I’m traveling for leisure with team member discounts, I go for the classic luxury brands like Waldorf Astoria. I was able to stay in the Waldorf Astoria New York the final days it was open ahead of it’s major renovation and absolutely loved it!
What was the first job you wanted as a kid?
To be a teacher! I had a whole classroom playset and assigned friends homework and detention. And yes, I still had friends after doing that. LOL
Most recent Netflix binge?
World’s Toughest Race: Eco-Challenge Fiji. It’s actually on Amazon Prime, and so worth the watch. It’s like a much more challenging combination of Survivor and Amazing Race, however all the teams rally behind each other and genuinely want everyone to finish the race. Be prepared to shed a few tears!
